Clinical Center Tours

The Clinical Center (CC) is the largest hospital in the world devoted to clinical research and performs more rare disease research than anywhere else. As an attendee of Rare Disease Day at NIH, you will have an opportunity to sign up to take a guided tour during the event’s mid-day break.

CC walking tours begin in the North Lobby of Building 10 and last approximately 45 minutes. Participants will learn about the facility, the CC mission, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and CC history, and an overview of

  • Admissions/Voucher
  • Playroom
  • NIH School
  • Patient Unit
  • West Lab
  • Edmond J. Safra Family Lodge at NIH
  • Children's Inn at NIH
  • Patient Library
  • Chapel

Some CC highlights, facts, and patient unit stats will also be discussed.

The 45-minute tours will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign-up sheets will be available the morning of the event. Shuttle service will be provided to transfer attendees from the Natcher Conference Center to the Clinical Center and back.

Navigate with Your Mobile Phone. The CC’s free app for smartphone devices called NIHCC Take Me There is available to download from the Apple Store or Google Play. It enables users to pinpoint their current location and view directions to nearly anywhere inside the building. There is also a web version, www.takemethere.cc.nih.gov, which allows users to view directions online and share with others via email or print.
