NIH guests will be required to show one form of identification (a government-issued photo ID-driver's license, passport, green card, etc.) and to state the purpose of their visit. In preparation for accessing NIH's campus, all meeting attendees (even those who have been to NIH before) are encouraged to review the detailed Campus Access and Security requirements.

Please allow approximately 30 minutes for passing through NIH security. The NIH Visitor Map has additional information about specific security requirements (including vehicle inspection) and information regarding the visitors’ entrance.

NIH Visitor Information
NIH visitors may find detailed information by reviewing NIH's Getting to NIH page; highlights include:

Public Transportation. The Clinical Center's Masur Auditorium (Building 10) is a short walk from the Metro’s Medical Center stop (subway). Attendees are encouraged to use Metro* because parking is limited on NIH’s campus. Metro provides trip planning tools (including schedules and maps) and additional public transportation information is available from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority website.

*If you plan to travel to NIH via the Metro for Rare Disease Day at NIH 2017, please note that the elevator from the mezzanine to the Medical Center Metro Station’s street level is out of service through the end of March.

Parking. Although attendees are encouraged to take Metro, limited parking is available for a fee at NIH.

NIH Shuttle. A shuttle is available from the NIH Gateway Center (next to the metro) to the Masur Auditorium, Clinical Center (Building 10). Select Building 10 (North or South) for the stop.
